- The first time I remember being completely fascinated, I was four years old and watching someone creating glass figurines. The glass unicorn I brought home became my prize possession and glass art my passion. A few years later tragedy struck when a dust mop broke this object of my adoration. Tears were shed as I reluctantly accepted that it could not be fixed. From that moment on I knew I would have to learn to create my own treasured pieces of glass art. For years I traveled the world looking at glass and dreaming about glass. In high school I was given the opportunity to try soft glass bead making in a stained glass class. Inspired by the praise and encouragement of an accomplished artist and great teacher, I quickly realized my potential to make something of my passion. I made soft glass beads for eight years before I had yet another opportunity, to work with borosilicate, or hard glass. Although hard glass is expensive, available in limited colors, and working with it requires a sophisticated studio, it is wonderful to work with. With this type of glass I can create durable glass pendants and rings. My first creation was a glass pendant, and I knew immediately it would be the first of many. That day I began my career creating wearable glass art. This career has led me through many locations and challenges. Pendant after pendant and piece by piece I’ve worked to build my own studio. Finally independent and fully equipped, I am able to create the beautiful art and jewelry that I imagine. I feel more than fortunate to be living a dream that started long ago. I create glass pendants and rings so that many people who appreciate fine art can have the opportunity to own pieces of it, and enjoy them daily. I am proud to produce fine art that is affordable and accessible to many. I intend to take my creations around the world to exchange them for the culture and creations of others. I believe that accomplished art is an exchange of experience and shared inspiration.
